get to know the guru: Emma Mildon
I had the pleasure of meeting Emma - a best-selling author and Spiritual PA (read on to find out what exactly that is!) before her speakeasy at Wanderlust in Great Lake Taupo this February. She is a beautiful, bubbly human being that I was immediately drawn to - her energy is contagious and her presence lit up the room.
What makes you come alive?
Nature. In particular the ocean. I find it resets and recharges me. I love to paddle board, dive, and surf. I also love nature walks. If I have had a rough day you can normally find me on the closest patch of grass. Earthing myself. I love all things ocean, grass, outdoors... Sometimes I joke and call it spending time with G.O.D GREAT OUT DOORS...
We all have our own unique gift to share with the world, what’s yours?
I became a Spiritual PA aka personal assistant for the soul to help people organize their holistic and spiritual life. I call myself the Spiritual PA because I feel as though I am behind every reader, holding their chia-goji-smoothie, highlighting, circling, and post it noting things they may be interested in, helping them keep on top of life and mindfulness. I report in for spiritual duty for every reader. I don't consider myself a boss, a guru, or part of any spiritual hierarchy click - I am simply like my readers. Curious and open. So I offer up channels for people to get spiritual insights and spiritual downloads on things I would be interested in... Writing the books I would have loved to have read when I was starting out exploring spirituality.
I had an overwhelming feeling that the millennials especially were seeking a peer they could connect with and relate to, a like minded soul who had a straight-shooting approach to realistic spiritualism. Since I began blogging, speaking, and have launched my best selling book The Soul Searcher's Handbook - it turns out my gut feeling, souls calling, intuition on my dharma was bang on. With thousands of people embarking on a 'soul search' our collective term for a new approach to a new age life. This can include trying out feng shui, astrology, yoga, crystals, chakras, meditation - tools to help you live well. I offer a "take what you like, leave the rest" approach to spiritual living, and offer new age content in a "no agenda, no bias" style so that people can truly follow what resonates, or works for them. I have the best job in the world, handing out spiritual road maps to soul searchers, and a holistic menus of new age tools that people can pick and choose from.
Who or what inspires you? (Don’t be afraid to get detailed and in-depth.)
I'm inspired by almost everyone. And if they don't inspire me, they teach me something. While I adore Oprah, guru Amma, Yogi Bhajan - my best teachers have been my peers. They tend to be the biggest messengers for me. And the wise guide inside obviously....
When was the last time you mustered the courage to do something that scared you? What was it, and what did you learn from it?
Video. I had been procrastinating doing to camera work. My negative self-talk was really getting me down. Finally, I ripped off the negative band-aid and did a series of video. It ended up opening a big door for me to do some more video work in the USA - so once I removed the block magic could flow in.
What and where is your next big adventure?
Next big gig on my list is heading to America to film the video series I mentioned above. It's going to be a big one!
Dish out a piece of advice for a 20-something (or anyone, really!) looking to make his or her mark on the world.
Judge less. Love more. That is all. That is everything.
Keep up with Emma:
